Some of these events were somewhat unusual for those used the regular diplomatic round of cocktail parties and formal dinners. Bruno once organized a graffiti party at which the basement car park to the embassy was decorated by graffiti artists in a unique style. Also when Switzerland somewhat unexpectedly made it through to the latter stages of a major football competition and were due to play England, Bruno organized a bangers, mash and beer party, at short notice, together with giant video screens showing the match (with commentary in French, German and English).
He was an enthusiast for and supporter of the various local businesses and restaurants and particularly enjoyed a traditional fish and chip supper at The Golden Hind saying it was such an unusual pleasure to be invited to a meal without an agenda other than to enjoy it!
He went on to be ambassador to Rome but kept in touch with many friends from Marylebone where he and his unique style will be greatly missed.
