Danille-BarrIt was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Danielle Barr who died on October 23rd. Danielle had been a very active member of the Marylebone Association Committee since 2004. Danielle was especially involved in working with the Art in Marylebone project and was instrumental in its success over the past three years.

Born in Jerusalem in 1940 Danielle moved to London in 1961. Danielle was twice married, first to Marty Stein in 1966 and then to Peter Bielby who pre-deceased her in 2003.

Danielle enjoyed a long and very distinguished career in advertising. She worked for Elida Gibbs (part of Unilever) as brand manager during the 60's and 70's and moved to Geers Gross advertising agency as Managing Director in the early 80's. Danielle was the Head of Advertising for the National Westminster Bank during the mid to late 80's and served as Chairman of the advertising agency Publicis in the 90's.

Danielle was a member of WACL (Women in Advertising and Communications London) and served as its President in 1985. WACL is a network of the most influential women in media, advertising and communications which has been active since the 1920's. In the last 15 years Danielle studied and qualified as a psychotherapist, specializing in couples' relationships.

Danielle always lived in Marylebone, a community she enjoyed. It was her perfect urban environment and as a resident she was very interested in community-related issues and therefore became involved with the Marylebone Association.

Always elegant and in good spirits Danielle was a delight to work with. Her contributions were thoughtful and very much respected. Danielle was a classy lady who will be much missed by those who knew and had the privilege of working with her. Danielle is survived by her children Seth Stein and Tal George and a brother Ze'ev Barr.
