Of course it is not only the council that is able to effect the streetscape, the major estates in our area, namely, the Portman Estate and the Howard de Walden Estate have the clout to facilitate these matters. The Portman Estate have already seen a commendable degree of success in their Neater Streets Initiative in which a schedule of street clutter for removal or re-siting was drawn up with input from ourselves and the Council. This initiative is nearing its conclusion now and Portman expect to see something approaching an 80 per cent success rate. Meanwhile the Howard de Walden Estate are in the process of rolling out a similar initiative and we are meeting with them to ensure our members will be able to have an input in this. So, again, any comments or suggestions for inclusion in further discussions with the Estate will be most welcome.
