The Marylebone Association

Westminster City Council is now undertaking a review of its Licensing Policy and welcomes an input from the Marylebone Association. This is the triennial opportunity for us to make our views known before the 2010 Policy Statement is finally prepared. As the committee member with responsibility for monitoring licence applications, I propose that members who want to express their views on the effect the present regulations have in their neighbourhoods and any amendments they would like to see to the City Council's policies, should send their comments to me and I will consolidate them into a Marylebone Association document and forward it to the authorities at City Hall.

Members' comments could be considered, for example, under the following headings - but you may wish to have headings of your own:

• Smokers and drinkers outside of premises
• Off-licences and shops with ancillary alcohol
• Stress areas and the hours premises may open when granted as exceptions to policy
• Trial periods for licences
• Pubwatch - co-ordination of premises to combat problems associated with football and other sporting events
• Live music / dancing (indoor / outdoor)
• Temporary events
• Major events in public spaces in, for example, the Royal Parks (e.g. noise, hours of activities, traffic issues, utilities availability, etc.)

Do let me have your comments, please by mid August so the consolidation of views can be made and presented.
