EIFA International School Consultation

  • Thu, November 28, 2019
  • 6:00 PM
  • Duchess House, 10 Duchess Street, W1G 9AB
No. 19 Portland Place is currently in B1 (office) use and EIFA are proposing a temporary change of use to a D1 (primary school) use in order for EIFA to accommodate increasing local education demands. The building location will integrate seamlessly with the continuing school operation at no.36 Portland Place and Duchess House.

EIFA began as a nursery and primary school in 2013 on Portland Place (Marylebone Ward), and it soon became evident that a senior school was required, hence the establishment of EIFA Senior School at Duchess House in 2016 (within the West End Ward, with frontage bordering the Marylebone Ward). Over the last two years, the Senior School has steadily increased in numbers, however, the demand for younger years is even greater, and the interest from local parents and community groups has brought about these proposed changes within an additional premises:

  • Provision of a primary school premises for pupils aged from 6 - 11 years (school year 2 to year 6), to facilitate a reorganisation of the existing school facilities at no.36 Portland Place and Duchess House providing additional classrooms for the existing pupils.
  • Maximum of 190 pupils and 20 staff.
  • Opening times will be 8am to 3.20pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 3.30pm Fridays.
  • The school will provide for extracurricular clubs after the school day, Monday to Friday, ending at 5pm. There are no breakfast clubs proposed before the school day.
  • Morning break will be taken between 10am and 10.30am within the lower ground floor of no.19 Portland Place.
  • Lunch break will commence at 12.30pm and will finish at 2pm. There will be no cooking facilities on site and a hot lunch will be delivered daily.
  • Sports will mostly be conducted at Regent’s Park. Pupils will walk to Regent’s Park with the appropriate number of supervising adults.
  • There are no holiday clubs proposed at no. 19 Portland Place during half term however, there is a one-week holiday club per term that is already held at no.36 Portland Place.

There will be a public consultation on Thursday 28th November from 6pm at Duchess House, 10 Duchess Street, W1G 9AB and your presence is most welcome. If this time and date is not suitable, please feel free to contact either myself or Isabelle Faulkner at EIFA, if@eifaschool.com, if you wish to discuss/comment on the proposals.
